Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
I was looking for a lawyer to handle a dissolusion between my wife and I and after a referal from another lawyer I found one. I called the office and told them I was refered and needed some legal advice to see if we were persuing the right path. The lawyer said we were going in the right direction and should come in to discuss our options and set us up for an appointment. We went in for the appointment and spent about an hour talking about our options and left her office with no decision made of what action we were going to take. My wife and I decided to work things out and about a month later received a letter from the lawyers office and a bill stating we were being charged for a consultation but it would be discounted if we went through with the dissolusionment. At no time were we informed or agreed to any fees involved with the conslutation. Am I responsible for her consultation fee? Thank you in advance.

Clients or prospective clients are supposed to be informed about fees in advance of working together. The lawyer's arrangement is typical where the first consultation is without charge if the lawyer is hired. But you should have been told. On the other hand, if the advice and information received helped you and your wife with your decision now and in the future, then you received service worth paying for.
