Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
Minor child receiving money from social security and child support
Is there any legal reason that a minor child cannot receive social security from a deceased stepfather and child support from a biological father? Would it jeopardize either source if the mother tries to have the child support amount raised? It was set at $50.00 a week 14 years ago when the child was 2.

Social Security survivors benefits are not affected by child support, but must be counted as an income source for the obligee when making up the revised child support worksheets, even though they are for the benefit of the child.
