money in trust

during my divorce there was dispute over some money. i sold my house ( mine after marriage) and the money from sale was put into a trust by my lawyer (his trust ). dispute was agreed upon and she was to receive part and the remainder back to me. my lawyer has informed me that he is keeping my part has partial payment to him. this without sending me an invoice or anything. i know it is not ethical, but is it legal for him to just keep it???

Fee disputes between lawyers and clients are often reported to the grievance committee of the local bar association where you can write a letter and explain just this.
