Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Mortgage after a Divorce

My ex-wife kept the house in our divorce three years ago. I am no longer on the deed but my name is on the mortgage. She has defaulted on the mortgage several times and been found in contempt for this three times (for not holding me ''harmless'') as she has come close to foreclosure. She has been allowed to purge herself each time by paying the mortgage up to date. However, consistently being 3-4 months behind damages me even if she pays it up for the court. What other legal procedures are in place to either get my name off the mortgage or to get damages from her. I have been turned down for all forms of financing/credit due only to this late mortgage.

Re: Mortgage after a Divorce

Unforyunately, contempt proceedings are the only remedy that you have, unless you can also get the court to order her to sell or refinance the property.
