Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
Non payment of medical bills ordered by court
My ex wife was ordered to pay 19% of all vision, medical, and dental costs that insurnce did not
cover. After court, she made it clear that she was not going to comply. It cost me $750 to take
her to court. So far she owes $170. As you can see , it would not be feasible for me to take her in
with a lawyer. I can take her in for a $50 fee but I need to know how to do the paperwork . Lawyers
in my area won't do the paperwork if I am not using their services. Is there anyplace I can get a
sample of a contempt of court paper. Is contempt of court the correct charge to make? Any
help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

As far as i know, there are no "standard" forms for a motion to show cause in contempt in domestic relations. Go to your local law library, and consult some Ohio formbooks. Be aware that you should send your wife copies of the bills before filing, and you must serve her with the motion by certified mail. Be prepared to wait 3-4 months for a hearing date.

I think that there may be a sample of the forms you need on the cuyahoga county domestic relations court web site. However, if you make a proceedural error, the Court will probably not make the correction, but may dismiss the motion. It is a good idea to go to legal aid to have an attorney look over the forms
