Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

What are the options for a mother to get her child back home from a father who is refusing to return the child until after the agreed day and time.

Single mom never married to father, child lives with mother, allows frequent visitation with the father. Father frequently changes the agreed times of visitation and returns the child hours to days past agreement. No court ordered visitation is in place currently.

In Ohio, if you are having trouble with the other parent being reasonable with regard to visitation schedules with the children, you are best off to file a lawsuit with the Court of Common Pleas in your county in the juvenile court section to establish paternity of the children and visitation with them.

Once that order is in place, all of the parties to the case will have to abide by it or they will risk contempt of court charges against them. But until you have such an entry in place there is almost nothing you can do except to deny visitation entirely. But this may not be in the children's best interests.
