Re: Parents

First of all, how old are you? Divorce is unfortunately not real precise in this context. I mean it has a specific meaning in relation to marriage. In terms of parent/child, it's largely a creation of the news media. My guess is you are a teenager and are seeking emancipation. The problem is that the law is a mess when it comes to just about anything involving underage persons. There is no animal called emancipation for minors in Ohio. Regardless, the courts emancipate minors all the time. How do they do it. I guess they just feel like it. I'm not joking here. Nature abhors a vacuum. Lawyers and judges hate situations where there is no law. So they make it up.

A lot of anyone's answer to your question is going to depend on your specific situation. Alot can be done informally that maybe can't be done through formal legal process. But as the immortal Jack Webb used to say just about every week, it all depends on "just the facts ma'am."
