Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

paternity/child support/absent father

my 11 year old sons father has been absent for about 10 years. Can I still file for child support even thought I don't know where he is? There has been no contact. His name is on the birth certificate. Am I able to do so without him knowing my whereabouts as I would have possible cause to fear for my safety.

Yes, you can file, and be granted, child support even if he can't be found. As far as keeping your location private, that would be a matter to take up with the court at one of the hearings. You might try going through the child Support Enforcement Agency, if you can get them to do anything.
