What is a power of attorney

I suffered a stroke in 2001 (sept) at that time my mother applied for ssi for me. Since that time I have been recoevering in a different city from my mother and sister someone else was providing all of my care and expenses. Today I found out that my sister filed for power of attorney, I am not sure of what this means for my situation. Thank you for your response.

It sounds like your sister filed for guardianship. That means that she can take care of your business affairs.
