Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Removing husband from financial responsibility for mortgage without refinancing

In a divorce or dissolution, how can the husband be removed from financial responsibility for the home mortgage without the wife refinancing the home? This would be a short term solution - possibly 3 years - until the children graduate from high school, at which time the wife would sell the house.

The easy answer is that you can't. You may file a quitclaim deed to remove him from the title, but he will stil be on the mortgage. The only way to be truly protected is to get him off the mortgage and refinance.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!
