Who's responsible for medical bills?

My friend has been separated from her husband for

more than a year (not legally separated, he left and is

pursuing a divorce). He has some health problems and

has lost his medical insurance and has told her that

she will be responsible for paying for his heart

operation that is upcoming. She doesn't feel that she

should be responsible since he left her and is pursuing

a divorce. Is she legally responsible for his medical

debts?

That depends entirely on how the debts are apportioned in the divorce proceeding.
