Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Restoration of prior name after dissolution

If an entry to restore prior name was asked for in a dissolution & it was granted, does this mean it is an ORDER by the court ALLOWING you to change the name back, or does this mean you HAVE to change it back, once filed & stamped?

Re: Restoration of prior name after dissolution

Once the order is time stamped your former name is restored and the deed is done. In other words, you name has been changed. The time to decide whether or not to change your name is prior to the decree of dissolution being signed by the Judge.
