restraining order

my son has a restaining order against him. when he asked the judge about getting a restraining order against the accuser he was told it wasn't necessary because it works both ways. the lawyer then told him that it onlt applies to him. can you please tell me which way it is?

I shall presume that you are talking about a civil protection order through a domestic violence charge. The attorney is correct in that it only means that you have to stay away from her, not the other way around. It would be easy for her to set you up to violate the order.
