Retirement funds

Are IRA's considered joint property and would therefore be

an asset that would be equally divided if it were set up after a mariage began?

All income and property acquired during a marriage is rebuttably presumed to be marital property, and is subject to equal division during a divorce. The only way that an IRA could be considered sepaprate property is if the money used to fund it comes from a separate (premarital) source.

Retirement funds accumulated dduring the marriage is a marital asset and can be divided in the divorce.
