Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
Step parent adoption rights
I adopted my ex-wifes son from her previous marriage. We have since divorced and I am unable to see him and he has told me that I am not his father and wants nothing to do with me. I have taken her to court but she told the judge to have me turn over my rights for the adoption of him to her new husband. She is now not wanting her new husband to adopt him and only wants me to pay child support. He is now 14. Do I continue trying to enforce the visitation order or just give up, never get to see him, and keep paying child support. I feel like my hands are tied and I have no rights at all.

Re: Step parent adoption rights
The court views child support and custody/visitation matters as separate issues. Your ex-wife cannot prevent you from a relationship with you son over child support issues. You already have tried to have visitation enforced, but from your message the outcome is confusing. You should have been able to have visitation enforced.
