Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
terminating parental rights
I am in the process of going to court with the father of my child. We were not married, but he is on the birth certificate. He has told me he would like to terminate his parental rights. I would like to let him do so. I did hire an attorney and he said that as long as we both agreed the judge should grant it. But I've been hearing conflicting things from other people. I was just wondering if this is something that is done.

Re: terminating parental rights
The juvenile court will only allow a termination of his paarental rights if there is another parent taking his place. The state wants to have two parents for each child so as to limit the number of children on public assistance.
