As of now i am paying mothers bills- but she will not talk to me at all. She has a history of violence.I have made living arrangements for the 3 of us- in ohio as well as in mi (where my family is from) i have jobs lined up for both of us- and child care in mich- i just need direction as to what i need to do to get full physical custody- with the option to move back to michigan

Re: Unwed father custody

After established paternity, you will need to hire an attorney to bring a motion before the court. There will then be a hearing and/or investigation to determine what is in the best interests of the child. The court looks primarily at 12 factors to determine what is in the child's best interests. It is possible that the court will find allegations that the mother has a history of violence will not be relevant unless she has been found to be violent towards her own child. Certainly the steps you have described you have taken to provide stability for the child will be looked upon favorably by the court/FOC. Those are some of the factors considered.

Good luck.
