Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
Visitation Problems, Communication Problems, Rights taken away
I live in the state of Texas My divorce was finalized in the State of Ohio, Lorain County My ex-spouse was abusive to the children They as well as I were attending counseling sessions At one point the children were interviewed by Texas protective services abuse was proven in their eyes The father gave me sole custody of the children when he calls here to talk to them they do not want to talk to him. I have tried many times to get authorites to listen about his abusive behavior I have a letter from the children's couselor recommending that he only get supervised visits.I see what those children go through when they have to talk to him. My oldest son who is 14 had bed wetting accidents for the longest time due to the abuse he endured, when he spoke with his father last night, he woke up this morning and had wet the bed needless to say this made him angry and upset. When the father calls, I always give the children the option to talk or not and they haven't been wanting to A mediation was held and now I have to make sure the children are available to talk to him on Weds. & Sun. And if I don't I can be held in contempt of court. I really am discouraged I feel the laws are working against me not in the best interest of the kids

Re: Visitation Problems, Communication Problems, Rights taken away
Lorain County will require extraordinary proof to halt visitation. I do about 65% of my practice in Lorain County Domestic Relation Court, and the burden will be squarely your shoulders. Your problem will be complicated because this particular court does not want to cut the father our completely and you are living in Texas. The Family Divorce Services Mediation agreement should be changed. The only good news is that depending on your ex-husband's attorney, you may be able to attend the hearing by telephone. Finally your son is 14 which may have an impact on your case. Please do not hesitate to call me at 440.835.8200 to discuss on the telephone. Steve
