Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
Getting visitation rights for my child
My son is 2 1/2 and I have been having a bunch of trouble with my ex girlfriend. I have a child support order and I pay it. My ex states that she is going to keep my child from me. There is absolutely no reason for her to do that. I am a great father and I love my son. Its hard to only be able to see him when my ex says its ok. Now if she's mad, that could be weeks. She threatens me often about doing physical damage to myself and my current girlfriend. She is like Dr. Jekel and Mr. Hyde. It's too much of a headache to deal with her like this. I want it on paper the nights of the week that I get him and which weekends. Problem is money is tight, so its hard to get a lawyer. Is there any way I can do this on my own? How do I get started? What do I need to do to get the ball rolling? My son's way too important to let her keep him from me any longer!! Help me please

A complaint needs to be filed with Juvenile Court seeking to establish a visitation order. While you may be able to do this on your own, you should talk to an attorney before proceeding. If you have any questions, you can contact me.

You need to file a motion with the court to establish visitation. Could you do it on your own? Yes. But, I would strongly advise you to get an attorney. Once visitation is established via an order, if she doesn't comply with it, you just file a contempt motion. I'll be glad to help you any way I can.
