Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
Walk thru rental home
My ex husband is trying to prove that I live with my boyfriend and his mother because I bought the house from my boyfriend's mother. The house was in her name only and now is in my name only. I am renting the house to the two of them. I live 36 miles away with my son. My ex husband's attorney has filed to walk through my rental home. Do I have any legal rights here? It seems to be an invasion of my renter's privacy. Do my renter's have any rights. Can they just come and walk through just because he ''thinks'' I live there. Can you help?

Re: Walk thru rental home
You say your ex so I assume that your divorce is final. My next question is why is your ex doing this? Is he trying to get child support payments reduced or trying to get a modification in the custody order? He obviously thinks that the Court will care if he can prove that you are living with someone who you are not married to. I am not sure that the Judge will care. Some do and some don't! What County has the case?
Your tenants do have rights. Unless they have been made actual parties to the action, the court does not have any authority to order them to do anything.
The issue comes back to the previous question. What is it that your ex is trying to accomplish? I need more information before I will be able to take this any further.
You may feel more comfortable with this if you talk directly to an attorney. If you had an attorney for your divorce and are comfortable with that attorney you should talk to him or her. If you no longer have an attorney and would like to talk about this I will be happy to give you a few minutes if you call. No cost or obligation.
Good Luck
