Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
We wer doing fostercare 14 years ago when we received a call to take a 4 yr. old girl and 2yr.old little boy Mom was due anyday with #3.We took her in to our home also 3 days later.he was drug and acohol addicted. There father jus left for Germany he is in the Army. He received custudy off all the children 2 years late. he didn't want to take the baby. He said she really needed the only mom she knew. We went to a Lawyer and he gave me temp custudy. That was 14 yaers ago. She is still OUR daughter. He has alwas received money from the Army for her as part of the family pay. We ask tha he pay $250.00 a mounth to help us support her. But have never seen a dime. It is costing a lot to meet her needs as she gets older. She is a great kid. dont give us any problems and does good in school. We are so proud of her. she wants to know if she is old enough to say she always wants to stay with us. If he ever comes back. we are not relittives! Just her loving Parents with no ties to her family.

Yes, she is old enough to say whom she wants to reside with. It is unlikely that the court would ever take her away due to the amount of time that she has resided with you. Have you ever considered adoption?
