Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio
Nine years ago my wife signed over custody of my son to me and at that time there was no order for support. When she had custody the prior eight years I paid her support. A few years after gaining custody of him I asked her about helping to support him. She, who was unemployed, stated that if you ask for child support I will make things up and it will cost more to defend yourself than you will ever get from me. A year after that she petioned the court pro se for custody and after I had hired a lawayer and began to defend myself she never showed up again costing me over 1500.00 in legal fees. Presently, my 17 year old son has become a cancer in my home and I think a change of venue might benefit him since he thinks his mother is so great. I just hesitate because i believe that the minute he walked in her house she would be asking for child support and that would really burn my blood. Would a judge connsider that she never paid any support and not make me pay her or is there any other way for her to get custody without me paying her support till he is 18. He is a senior this year and will turn 18 in feb. Any advice????

If you're not worried about your son's health and safety, which includes being a danger to himself or others, I suggest waiting it out until his emanicpation.
