Legal Question in Medical Leave in Ohio

Non-medical use of FMLA

Can FMLA be used for a non-medical issue? In other words, the FAMILY component, but not necessarily the MEDICAL component? This would be to complete an intensive part of an education program. Taking the time from work would allow employee to still address demands in family.

No. The FMLA does not govern educational pursuits or education-related absences.
