Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Ohio
Alienation of Affection
My son is dating a former teacher (trust me, far ahead of him life and 12 years age difference). She has convinced him to have nothing to do with his mother and father. There is much more information that I need to relay, but is an alienation of affection claim possible?

Re: Alienation of Affection
Ohio does not have alienation of affection, but the issue I would focus on is the propriety of a teacher dating the student. One must look to the age of the student. If the student is under 18, then one criminal chages may be assessed against the teacher.
Good Luck!!!
Re: Alienation of Affection
You do not tell us the age of your son. If your son is less than 18 or still a minor there are various criminal charges which could be made against this woman.
If your son met this woman while he was her student in a primary or secondary school in Ohio there is a possibilty she could face the loss of her teaching certificate.
Also, in the event your son is under 18, she could be charged with statutory rape (if applicable) or contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
However, if your son is over 18 and an adult, there is very little you can do legally concerning this woman.
Alienation of affections is usually used for instances where someone breaks up a marriage. It is an action that is rarely used in today's world even in matrimonial litigation.
