Automotive Accident Advice

While I was parked in a customers driveway they proceeded to backout of their garage and hit the rear quarter panel of my truck. I was trying to be a nice guy and they wrote me a check for $40.00 and we called it good. After a couple of hours the home came home and informed me that they wanted their money back due to they believe I was at fault for the accident because I was parked in their driveway.

Were the police every notified? If not, that can affect how your and their insurance company would handle a claim filed. The lack of a police report will also make this a "he said-she said" issue, which is always hard for the person bringing the claim to win.

If the other person brings a claim against you because they say you caused the accident, your insurance should help defend you. If they will not, or if the other person starts sending letters directly to you asking for money, you may need to get a lawyer to handle it for you.
