Dog kills pet birds
Neighbors dog running loose, tore into our outdoor
aviary and killed 6 of our pet parakeets. Dog found in
aviary. Are we entitled to any damages beyond
replacement cost of the birds?

A recent case out of Dayton decided that there is no "loss of consortium" for owners of a dog. Principle should apply to birds also - replacement cost/value of the animal is the measure of damage.
