Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Ohio

Gift demanded to be returned

Approximately 2 months ago I was given a new computer as a gift from a

friend. I have in my possession all receipts and paperwork for both products

and an email from the friend stating that the computer was now mine.

However, this friend is now demanding that the computer be returned to her.

Once the gifts were given to me, does she have any rights regarding their

return?

Re: Gift demanded to be returned

In Ohio, generally speaking, gifts are irrevocable once completed. If the computer was intended (and it can be shown that it was intended) solely as a gift without any intent or expectation that you provide something in return, then you are under no legal obligation to return it. Be sure to keep all documentation, particularly the email you referenced in the event your friend sues you in an attempt to recover the computer.
