Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Ohio
Harrasment of Employees
We have an employee that left out company about 6 months ago. While in our employment he wrote a bizzare letter to another employee and sent it to her home. He used our stationary. I have the origanal in his past employment file. Until this week we have heard nothing. Now two other employees just recieved psycotic letters sent to them at our Toledo, Ohio store. These letters are deranged, and lewd but so far do not threaten these ladies. He didn't sign the latest (just used Monkey Boy). My employees are frightened. Is there anything we as a company or they as indivduals can do to try to stop this. ( We are a retail store and this really disrupts business.)

Psychotic author?
Without knowing what was in those letters, it is impossible to propoerly advise you, but the words you are using are somewhat alarming. Why don't you consult with the local law enforcement authorities and let them investigate the situation.?If the author is psychotic, you and your employees should be protected. Let the professionals decide whether the former employee is a danger to otheres, let alone himself. Seeking help from the authorities will also go a long way in protecting you as employers.Common sense should be your guide here!
