Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Ohio
My ex live in boyfriend owes me over $1,000.
My ex live in boyfriend owes me over a grand. We only lived together for 4 weeks and he just wasn't adjusting, so he took some of his things and moved out. He has owed me money for 9 months and I've continually asked him for it. His clothes/furniture are still at my house but I've decided to hold them as collateral until he gives me the money he owes. I told him he could even sign an IOU and I'd give him his stuff. He refuses to do so and is threatening me with the police. Am I entitled to hold his posessions since they're in my house in my name only?

You're probably not legally allowed to hold into his things, but you should simply go to the small claims court and get a quick judgment against him. You could testify as to why he owes you.
