Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Ohio

school bus problem

My 11 year old daughter was dropped off by a bus driver during the 2 nd week of school Labor day weekend (friday) in a parking lot of a local produce market and told by the bus driver to walk the 3/10 ths of a mile down a mjor rd or go down the tow path that has approx. 2 to 3 thousand people a day go down it the parking lot of our market has aproximatly 100 patrons pull in and out hourly. I was never notified that my child would be dropped off here. they have always dropped her off in front of my house, for the last 5 years. My daughter protested and told them that I would not be happy and still the driver told her to get off the bus. Trafic on riverview goes approximatly 60 mi an hour and we are in the middle of a national park with no other neighbors. I feel that hte bus driver and thus the school put my daughter in a dangerous situatuation. If something would have happened I would not have any idea WHERE TO FIND HER AND THE BUS GARAGE WAS NOT ANSWERING THE PHONE. hELP DO I HAVE ANY RECOURS THANKYOU

Re: school bus problem

If the transportation department knows that the area she has to walk is dangerous for a child of that age and they still insist that she walk the path, then they would be liable if she was hurt. I would call and send the school board a letter(to create a paper trail) stating your concerns.
