Legal Question in Immigration Law in Ohio
20 Days After AOS Interview, And Still No Decision, Is This Normal?
I had my AOS interview on Feb 3 2009 in Cleveland, OH, and since then, I have not heard any info about my decision, is this normal and has anyone experienced this before? All I was told at the end of the interview was ''If we need anything from you, we will notify you by mail. I was not given a verbal approval or anything, nor was my EAD card taken away from me. I have no clue what to think and I am frustrated not knowing the decision?
Any thoughts or opinions on this matter?

This is fairly standard. Do you recall if the interviewing officer mentioned anything regarding fingerprint or name check clearance?

A final step in the process is a name check or file check to be certain that between the time of the notification of an interview and the interview itself there have been no violations. You make want to make an infopass appointment to see where things stand.

Generally you AoS application needs one final level of security checks. The rationale behind this procedure is that your criminal history was checked prior to the interview and must be checked again before final approval. Additionally, your case may be approved in Cleveland, but the approval notices are generated in Nebraska. Most of my clients receive notification within 30-45 days subsequent to the interview.

Yep, this is normal. This is also the government -- you must be patient. Give it until the 2nd week in March and if you haven't heard anything, don't hesitate to make an INFOPASS inquiry at the local office. Good luck.
