Legal Question in Immigration Law in Ohio
ICE Hold
My friend was arrested for driving under the influence and is an immigrant from Mexico. Today he was released from his charges until his next court date. When I contacted the jail I was told he had an ICE hold on him for immigration. What does this mean? Is there anyway I can help him with this? And does the public defender from his DUI case carry over?

Re: ICE Hold
What this means is that the person will not be released but rather will be taken by ICE to be held by them at one of their designated facilities. The public defender does not carry over. He has a right to a lawyer but he must pay for one himself.
