Legal Question in Immigration Law in Ohio

Marriage to an immigrant and taxes

I have been married to a British citizen for approx one year. I recently tried to file my income taxes and was told that I could not claim my children (his step-children) as dependents because of my marriage to an immigrant. I was also told that I would encounter other issues as well. Is this correct? Can my marriage to an immigrant cause me to lose my right to claim dependents on income tax?

I am not a tax lawyer, but this doesn't sound right. Did you consult with a tax accountant? Is the source of your information reliable?
