Can a legal permanent resident mother sponsor her 25 year old married son (present in US)?

Re: Sponsorship:
No. A U.S. permanent resident mother cannot sponsor a married son for U.S. permanent residency. However, if the legal permanent resident mother became a U.S. citizen, then the answer is "yes", but the son would most likely need to wait 9 years before he will get his permanent residency.
