Legal Question in Insurance Law in Ohio

i have a bull terrior and was recently informed of insurance law when i called my homeowners insurance was informed ''if they knew i had the dog they would have to cancel my insurance but if i had 1 and they didnt know and something happened i have $300,000 bodily harm liability and it would have to cover'' so does the law say i have to have the dog itself insured or can my homeownwers cover it?

You need to carefully read your policy to see if there would be coverage. There may be an exclusion for your type of dog. Some cities actually require you to purchase separate liabilty insurance for certain breeds of dogs and some cities actually have ordinances banning certain breeds. I used to have an excellent, well trained, loving, American Staffordshire bull terrier and had to give it to a friend due to all the hassles from the city. Because of idiots who beat them, make them mean & vicious, and fight them, this is what most people see on TV and assume that all bull dogs are killers. There is no such thing as a bad dog, only bad owners.
