Legal Question in Insurance Law in Ohio
Must I use hail damage claim check to repair?
I had some hail damage to my car, and got an estimate recently. Am I required to use my claim check to repair the damage, or can I keep all or a part of the money for my personal use?
My insurance agent said to do so would be ''unethical'' and that she would drop my comprehensive if I were to do so. Would she even have to know whether or not I actually used the check to repair the damage?
I realize that the check will be made out to me and the person doing the repairs. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thank you.

INsurance adjusters by their very existence are unethical. WHat you decide to do with the $$ after you receive it is up to you.
And no, they have no control over what you do with the money. ALso the check will be made out to you only.
