Legal Question in Insurance Law in Ohio
Victim of automobile vandalism
I wasn't sure what area of law to choose for this one. My car was shot and then broken into in October of 2004. I came out of work and found my glass shattered and a few pellet holes in my car. It appeared as if someone was trying to take my cd player as well. I called the police and filed a report. It wasn't until just the other day that i got the whole story finally of who was responsible for it. It was 3 guys in which i know. I was out of alot of money because i didn't have full coverage on my vehicle at the time. The only proof i have is one of my close friends was the one guys gf at the time and he told her everything. So the only proof would be her word. Do i have any chance at justice? I don't know what to do and i certainly know for a fact non of the 3 guys are in jail right now. Please let me know. Thanks!

Re: Victim of automobile vandalism
You can file a police report and pursue it in a criminal matterin which case a judge would likely order restitution. That means of course that the girlfriend would have to make a statement and possibly testify against them.
You could also file a civil claim against them. The problem with a civil claim is that even though you obtain a judgment, they might not pay up.
