As a Franchise Attorney I can say the following. Just registering a DBA for your business does nothing to protect the name, trademark wise. All you have is " common law rights" to the name that only extend to your immediate trading area and only within the industry in which you do business. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
