Connecting to private gas line

My neighbor has let me connect to his gas well. I use this for heating and cooking. He offered to let me do this. There was no money involed. The gas well has bend ther for at least fifty Years. My husband at the time, ran aline from the well to my trailor. The other night Friday November the 24, my neighbor stop and told me the line had blowed out, he said if its not fixed he will cut the gas off. I told him I will have it fixed. My question is, can he cut the gas off, I depend on this gas for heating and cooking. thank You. Kay
