Legal Question in Investment Law in Ohio

Just wanting to find out about lawyer stuff

I wanted to know if you can send me information on what you think I should do to get ready for college while I'm a freshman in high school. I also wanted to know if you can tell me in your opinion what is the best law school, and what kind of law makes the most money.

If you plan to get into law to make money, and I mean REAL money, consider again. You can make a comfortable living as a lawyer, but very few attorneys make liquid money, and most work very hard (12 hour days/7 days a week).

There are any number of professions where you can make much more money than an attorney. If $$ are what you are after, save yourself the three years of aggravation and the $150,000 law school expense and either open your own business or consider getting a MBA and finding a job as an investment banker.

As for what to do in school now, get the best grades you can, and do the same in college. Grad school admissions, and law schools in particular, are based solely on how good of a college you went to, the grades you obtained when there and your standardized test scores.

Good luck!

I don't want to sound as dark as Stephen (though he's right to some extents). And then: I haven't studied in the US. As a principle: you make most money in LAW where the money already is (great wisdom, huh?) unless you are a particular good salesman (nothing to do much with law though) in which case, I understand you can make a living with other stuff, too. I found corporate transactions, restructuring, corporate finance, structured finance and private equity both interesting and rewarding (and you can even live in Malta in the sun and still make a buck or two...). Seen from Europe, the big, 'classic' US law schools still have a good name but I leave this to Americans to guide you on. Ever considered going abroad to study? England? Asia? Other countries? International stuff, additional languages, etc., things a bit out of the way (whilst being on the spot with a view to where the money is) should get you quite a bit further (and they are good to open your horizon also in general). However, at the end of the day, you will only be good (and this is a big precondition to make money) if you like what you do; otherwise it'll be difficult to be good. So, try to find a melange between money and what you like... somehow foggy advice, I know, but you have to make the decision yourself. Let me know if I can help... Good luck.
