Drug testing in school?

Is a school authorized to take blood/urine samples from students to test for drug use?

Yes and no. The right of the school to keep the school safe as well as the right of the school to comply with rules and laws is balanced against a right of privacy.

The school can, for example, require that students submit to drug tests prior to participation in sports and can continue to require students to take random drug tests while they are participating in sports.
