Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in Ohio
Here is my situation:
I am a 20 year old student who lives in Columbus, Ohio. Last night, I walked out of my friend's house looking for a friend in a neighborhood in Hilliard, Ohio. While still in her yard, a police officer shined a flashlight on me and told me to go over and sit on the curb next to my friend who was already being charged with underage consumption. The police officer did not ask me any questions about whether I had been drinking or not (but I had) but as soon as I sat down came over and asked for my name and social security number. I was then written a ticket for underage consumption of alcohol.
In October of 2009 I was charged with Disorderly Conduct in Athens, Ohio (where I go to school). This was my first offense. The underage ticket I was issued last night would be my second.
My basic question is what will probably happen to me? Should I get legal help? My court date is August 18th. Please help me, please!
1 Answer from Attorneys
Of course you should get legal help. Attorneys know things and do things that lay people do not. If you believe that the prosecutor, judge, bailiff or other court personnel will advise you are mistaken. If you really care about your record, you should hire an attorney asap.
