Legal Question in Employment Law in Ohio
You applied for a job with a very well known company to better your career. Your old employer from 3 yrs ago gives you a bad reference telling the company doing the background check that you were terminated from there and often received disaplinary action. You indeed quit that job to seek better opportunities and you are not aware of any disaplinary action givin during your time of employment with them. Called the plant manager a few days ago(this is who you terminated your employment with) and he said no those files are incorrect he remembers you quiting and is not aware of any disaplinary action giving often during you time of employment. Is there an legal action that can be taken because you lost the job offer?

Yes, this could support a cause-of-action for defamation or intentional interference of business relations. You must prove that whatever was said is false and that the falsity specifically caused you to lose the job.
