Legal Question in Employment Law in Ohio

My company is being bought by another company. The other company pays considerably less.

My husband and I both work here and already took a pay cut last year which led us into chapter 13 bankruptcy. My question is do I have to accept another pay cut if it is considerably less than I'm making now? Would I be eligable to draw unemployment if I decline the pay cut?

This is a tricky one. The statute states that those who were terminated with "just cause" can not receive unemployment compensation. The problem is that this is a vague standard for which the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services renders a finding. What makes this problematic is that you functionally will be resigning and the ODJFS would need to be convinced that you were forced to do so without just cause. Better you should keep working an look for another job.
