An employee cannot be fired because he or she was injured on the job, unless the injury resulted because the employee broke a workplace rule or safety regulation.
For example, an employer is able to fire an employee who shows up to work intoxicated and proceeded to injure themselves on a piece of machinery. An employer cannot fire an employee for reporting a workers compensation claim. Hope this insight helps.
