fired while under doctor's care

i fell at home (6-27-06) and ruptured to disks in my back. notified boss of dr. appt. and that dr required me to be of work for a few days until ct scan could be done. on 7-5-06 ct scan showed ruptured disk a nerve compression (i cannot feel anything in my left knee). 7-6-06, in the morning is was informed of the extent of my injury and notified my boss and may accomodations for company short term leave. later that same afternoon, my boss called me at home and said my services were no longer needed. is that legal to do.

If the employer has 50 or more employees, than the termination was likely illegal.
