Your employer cannot make you quit or fire you because you are pregnant. However, your employer has a right to know when your maternity leave will begin and end.

If your employer has more than 50 employees and you worked there 25 hours or more for the last year, you may qualify for Family Leave and can therefore return to work within 12 weeks. Although the law is not perfectly clear on this point, if your employer has fewer than 50 employees, your are probably entitled to return to work ready to return within six weeks.
