Legal Question in Employment Law in Ohio
is it legal to reduce an employee's wages without informing him? I worked in an autobody repair shop for 11 yrs, 10 yrs for the original owner, and a year for the new owner.I was being paid by the hour, then the owner changed my pay to flat rate and reduced my pay scale by almost $5.00 an hour. I was the only employee this was done, too in the entire shop.

It is illegal, in most circumstances, to reduce an individual's hourly wage below the Federal and State Minimum Wage. The current minimum wage in Ohio is $8.10 per hour. If you feel that you are being paid below minimum wage, contact a labor/employment law attorney to discuss the matter further. You may be entitled to compensation and additional damages.
