Legal Question in Employment Law in Ohio

my mother got "let go" for not returning extra money she recieved at the wal mart self check out. She recieved 11 dollars to much. she had worked there for 5 years and was a good employee. Now they are trying to fight her un employment can they do any of this

Ohio is an "employment at will" state, so, yes, they can usually "let someone go" for just about any reason. They can also fight her unemployment. However, they may or may not win that fight.

If the UC agency denies her unemployment application, advise her to appeal. She does not need an attorney for that. If she loses the appeal, however, you might want to contact a local attorney that you trust to take any further steps they think are appropriate.
