Notice of intent to leave for a new position

1. Daughter-in-law gave two week notice; she is salaried

2. After one week imto two week period, employer told her she was done and would not pay her for the final week(she did not work this week)

3. Wrongful discharge and can they be culpable for final weeks pay?

4. Discretionary bonus - employer stated they would not pay. Any legal basis to pursue?

Under Florida law, the unfortunate answer to all of these questions is No. Florida is an employment at-will state, which means that an employee or employer may end the relationship at any time for any reason, and under virtually every State's law in the country, no "severance" pay is required. Thus, while the employer could choose to pay an employee for time not actually worked (ie the 2nd week), there is no such legal obligation.
